Standby hookup
A generator that starts itself
A standby generator sits on a pad outside and starts when the power goes. An automatic transfer switch moves the house over. It's the most work and the most cost of the three, and the one with nothing to haul out in a storm. We do the electrical side. A gas fitter runs the gas, and you buy the generator from the dealer you choose.

Standby questions
Can a standby generator run everything?
That depends on its size and your service. We do a load check and tell you which circuits it carries, and which it doesn't.
Do you sell the generator?
No. Buy it from the dealer you choose. We wire it, pull the permit and book the inspection.
Does the utility need to know?
Often, yes. We tell you at the visit what yours asks for.
How long is the power off while you work?
For the transfer switch, the power is off while it's connected. We tell you when, before we start.
